Karen Karana Tse’s journey is a remarkable testament to the power of music in healing and personal development. Born on October 30 in Hong Kong and later raised in Canada, she faced significant challenges early in life, including brain surgery to address a blockage affecting her blood flow. This pivotal moment in her childhood not only shaped her health but also influenced her future career path.

Recognizing the potential impact of her surgeries on her cognitive and emotional development, her medical caregivers recommended that she engage in music training. This advice proved transformative, as Karen immersed herself in the world of music, learning various instruments and honing her skills in piano. The therapeutic benefits of music became evident, as it not only aided her recovery but also fostered her creativity and emotional expression.

Karen’s passion for music led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Music Therapy, where she gained a deeper understanding of how music can be used as a tool for healing and education. This academic background equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to support children’s development through music.

Today, Karen is dedicated to children’s music education, using her experiences and expertise to inspire young learners. She understands firsthand the profound impact that music can have on cognitive and emotional growth, and she is committed to sharing that gift with others. Through her work, she continues to advocate for the importance of music in education , helping children discover their own musical voices while promoting their overall well-being.

Karen Karana Tse’s career in music education has been marked by a deep commitment to nurturing young talent and making music accessible to all children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. After returning to Hong Kong in 2004, she began her journey in music education by offering private piano lessons to young children. Her dedication to fostering discipline and confidence in her students led her to organize numerous Student Concerts at prestigious venues such as the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Hong Kong City Hall, providing her students with valuable performance experiences.

In 2015, Karen took a significant step in her career by creating the U.K.-registered String & Keyboard Musik Program ® , specifically designed for children aged 2 to 10 years. This innovative program aimed to engage young learners using bespoke colour-coded musical instruments, exercise books, app, instructional teaching videos and online applications to help children easily master the application of music theory and musical instruments, and develop their foundation in music through a proactive and enthusiastic approach, laying a strong foundation for their musical education. <Media interview> Hong Kong South China Morning Post , SingTao Smart Parent, Canada SingTao CCEU.CA & England Music Teacher Magazine.

From 2016 to 2018, Karen expanded her influence in the music community by serving as a judge for various open music festivals and competitions in Beijing, China. In 2018, she founded the Inspire Kids Orchestra, a platform for underprivileged children to participate in Hong Kong’s vibrant music culture. This initiative allowed young aspiring musicians from her education programs to showcase their skills and gain valuable performance experience.

Karen’s role as a representative and organizer for the National Star and Torch Art Talent Competition of China in Hong Kong and Macau has further solidified her position in the music education landscape. She also served as the Art Director for significant celebratory music events, including the 50th Anniversary of The Yellow River and the 60th Anniversary of Butterfly Lovers, which were highlighted in an on-air interview on Hong Kong’s TVB channel.

In addition to her local contributions, Karen has been promoting music education on a broader scale. She published the 「Music Dynamics Story Book」 in 2019, aimed at helping young children discover the transformative power of music. The same year, she founded the Children’s Music Fund Foundation China in Foshan, providing underprivileged children with early music education opportunities to build their confidence and self-expression through music. Karen’s commitment to music education continued into 2021, where she participated in an online piano master class forum in Berlin, Warum Musik Festival kinderwichtig istl discussing the importance of music for children. Her String & Keyboard Musik Program ® also partnered with the Music Australia Network during their Kindergarten Music Festival for Young Children®️, where she conducted online seminars for parents on the positive impact of music on young children. Additionally, she held an online seminar in the U.K. for the Festival of Music organization, focusing on music composition.

Her work has garnered international attention, leading to an invitation from Toronto’s Healing Voice Services to represent a Music Therapy project, culminating in an interview with CTV channel in Canada. Through her various initiatives, Karen Karana Tse continues to inspire and empower the next generation of musicians, demonstrating the profound impact of music education on children’s lives.

In 2022, Karen participated in a live stream performance at the Festival de Música Clásica de Nueva Creación in Barcelona, Spain. Karen was a livestream instructor at Masterclass Di Musica 2022 organised by Concorso in Rome, Italy to share her experiences in piano skills.

In France, Karen participated in an online class in conjunction with Magazine de l’éducation des enfants [12] to teach 3 – 6 years old, children musicals. In New York, New York, Karen was the organizer of The Music EDUCATOR Summit, a 3-day virtual conference with nationally recognized educational leaders. In Germany, she was invited by German Music TV (Stingray Classica TV) to shoot a music promotional video for the classical event in 2023.

During this time, Karen has been showcasing a candlelight performance of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata at the London Freemasons Hall.

From 2022 to 2023, she also played the Moonlight Sonata as part of the Beethoven Series in various International School Teachers Piano competitions, securing the top 7 piano competitions held in Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Singapore, the USA, and the U.K. In January 2023, Karen received an Australian Sydney Music Educators Award, and in March, she was interviewed by BBC Londo introducing her new music composition.

From February to May 2023, Karen participated in the “Travel the World with Beethoven” event, during which she presented recitals and masterclasses in several locations, including Poland, Berlin, Paris, London, Rome, Texas, New York, Barcelona, Seoul, Melbourne, and Sydney. In June, Karen was involved in a livestream performance as part of the “Beethoven of All” program in Vancouver, Canada, and also performed in the live-streamed event “Musica Classica nel 2023″ in Rome, Italy.

From July to October, Karen served as a judge for several open music festivals and competitions in Los Angeles, including the Children Piano Competition and the Miedzynarodowy Konkurs Pianistyczny Power Music in Warsaw, Poland. Additionally, she possibly performed in the Johann Sebastian Bach Live-Streaming Solo Recital & Master Class, which took place in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. Furthermore, she organized four live-streamed music programs for String & Keyboard Musik Program ® that involved teachers, parents, and students sharing their musical experiences in Tokyo, Japan; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Frankfurt, Germany; and Paris, France. In November 2023, Karen developed sets of children’s music scores (Music Sheets for Piano, Violin, Harp, and Percussion) designed for young children aged 2 to 8, which complement her teaching materials for the String & Keyboard Musik Program ® Rainbow Workshop.

From 2023 December to 2024 March Karen held a few of children’s music workshop at the Kindergarten and Elementary in Seoul, Tokyo, Barcelona, Spain, Brighton, London, Los Angeles, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Singapore. From 2024 January to March, She was a live-stream instructor of Beethoven Master Class in Arte Century London. She has participated in a live-stream performance at the Musica Insieme and Concorso in Italy.

From 2024 April to August Karen participated in the Travel the World with Beethoven Part 2 event. She has performed recitals and Masterclasses in Barcelona, Sweden, Frankfurt, New York, Toronto, Ho Chi Minh City, and Seoul. At the same time, Karen has performed several Live-Stream performances at Los Angeles Classical Music Culture in Los Angeles, United States, Русский музыкальный фестиваль Music Festival Chat in Russia and Schweitzer Dan Stares|30] in Switzerland.

In 2024 September to November Karen held several String & Keyboard Musik Program ® franchise seminars and workshops in various locations including the (United Kingdom , London, Brighton , Scotland, Kent, ) (Germany, Frankfurt), (Italy ,Florence) , (Poland, Warwas) , (Spain, Barcelona), (Canada, Toronto), and (Korea, Seoul).

In 2025 Karen was the Cultural Exchange Ambassador in The 13th Chinese Ambassador of Cultural Exchange in China & Hong Kong event and announced in an on-air interview in Hong Kong’s Asia Television ATV Channel.

In November 2025, Karen will present an upcoming solo piano recital “Travel the World with Beethoven: Part 3,” scheduled to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, and Barcelona, Spain.
